We are located behind St. Hilda's Abbey on the eastern hillside of Whitby with wonderful views of the Abbey, the sea and the Esk Valley. Our site is quiet and peaceful within easy walking distance of Whitby, down the 199 steps into the town. The walk passes the parish church of St. Mary, whose churchyard inspired Bram Stoker to write Dracula.
Whitby is famous for its history as an old whaling station, Captain Cook and the wonderful cobbled streets with their fishermen's cottages. There are plenty of varied shops, cafes and restaurants and of course lots of fish and chip shops to enjoy.

Wander down to Whitby's bustling quayside, where there is always something to entertain you, from children crabbing off the pier to Whitby's active fishing fleet and life boats. Visit the Captain Cook museum in a 17th century house on Whitby's harbour. Here, the young James Cook lodged as an apprentice seaman before his epic Discovery voyages.
At 7:30pm, join Harry Collett, the 'man in black' at the 'Whale Bones' on the west cliff for a ghost walk. Nobody knows Whitby better and you will go back in time down cobbled streets and narrow ginnels in search of ghosts, ghouls and the occasional Goth!
